This is 1-year contract employment that will earn you $20 to $21.00 per hour based on experience while you work daily from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm from Monday to Friday weekly. Your dress code will always be in business casual.
Job Summary For Data Entry Specialist
The role of the ideal Data Entry Operator is to code and enter data into a computer system or database and verify the accuracy of the data entered. Correct and updates database records. Generate routine computer reports and printouts as well as related clerical duties as assigned.
The Department of Preventive Medicine is next in contact with the Los Angeles Cancer Surveillance Program (CSP) at the Keck School of Medicine in the Medical-Healthcare Institution. 30 to 40 employees are part of this program working out in the field.
This program is committed to cancer reporting and facilitated for doctors and hospitals for the sake of reporting to the California Department of Public Health. The program also conducts nonclinical research studies.
Data entry will be the primary duty for the CSP. The Data entry operator will be in charge of updating data in the California Cancer Registry database as required. Handling scanning, word processing, and other clerical tasks will be required of this position, in support of our data collection and IT units.
Data entry operator may occasionally be needed to provide administrative assistance to the Executive Director for special projects. This may have to take 50% of the entire time.
The other half of this position will be having to conduct data entry and provide clerical support for one of the research studies known as the Long Term Follow-Up Center (LTFC), which manages annual contact with childhood cancer survivors.
The primary tasks of the Data entry operator for the LTFC will be to input data into a computer system or database and equally, check the accuracy of the data entered. Navigate databases in order to retrieve information and accurately enter into another program.
To generate routine computer reports and printouts. Carry out necessary clerical responsibilities which include filing, help to prepare and mail letters to study participants and help out with a backlog of general work.
Data Entry Operator Minimum Requirements
- At least a high school certificate or any of its equivalent
- Prior experience using Excel is preferred.
- Possess basic administrative skills in the following areas such as:
- Proficient in using a PC and Microsoft Windows
- Data entry skills and ability to navigate through new database systems in finding and entering information.
- Sound communication skills, with basic skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, phone answering and teamwork or independent work-ability.
- Slightly higher level candidates who are computer savvy with databases
